It was a happy face! But not for all of the reasons I was hoping for.
The surgery went extremely well. It could not have gone any better. My surgeons were very pleased with what they saw and what they were able to do. A small incision was made (THANK GOD) right under my eye and they were able to remove the mesh. The tissue inside looked very healthy. Some biopsies were done, unfortunately there were unable to reach the area in question. To avoid making more incisions, my surgeon decided he would biopsy the area within a few days with a needle.
I am disappointed about the biopsy, but extremely happy with the fact they did not have to cut my face open again. So it was good news. Thus, the happy face.
There is some swelling, but not as much as I thought there would be. Hopefully it won't take as long this time for the swelling to go away. The incision was made where the mesh was breaking through. The skin there was so fragile and thin that stitching it entirely closed would have been difficult. So to avoid a skin graft to repair the area, the incision was left partly open with hopes that it will close on its own. Should it not close, a skin graft will have to be done.
As you can see, this saga is not entirely over. I hope to deliver good news again in a few days that the biopsies they took were normal and that the biopsy they will take through the needle will be normal. Please continue to keep me in your prayers...pray the incision will close. Pray for strength. Pray for healing. Your prayers are being answered! I am so thankful for your prayers.
Love,
Sue

This is amazing news! Thank God they were able to get that mesh out and that they didn't have to cut so much! I'm sure you're so relieved! I know I am! Woohoo!
Lots more to pray about, but I think God's already on top of all the other little worries. You're as beautiful as a lilly of the field, Sue. No need to toil or spin! God's working out his plan. I can feel it!
Love,
Cheri

Sue, I continued to check your blog and with Tracy up until 10:25 pm last night, went to bed with no news but still with a heavy heart for you and continuing to lift you up to the Lord every conscious moment I had durring the night. I have just read your entry this morning and am "Praising the Lord" for Jason's happy face!! I feel your anxiety to get the biopsies back and will be praying for that. I have a favorite verse on prayer and answered prayer I want to share with you. First, I will explain why it means so much to me. I was not raised in a Christian home and was not saved until February 1972 at the age of 24 years old. I shared Christ with my Daddy, he wanted no part of it. I read in my Bible,
Mark 11:24 Therefore I say unto you, what things soever ye desire when ye pray, believe that ye receive them and ye shall have them.
I highlighted the verse and wrote in the margin of my Bible "Lord save my Daddy". I continued sharing Christ with Daddy, and many others shared with him as well, including my oldest son, still Daddy said no. The Lord answered that prayer 25 years later in May 1998 when my Daddy said "yes" to Jesus!!! Hallalujah!! "Praise be to God" I then wrote the date of the answered prayer in the margin. Now that answered prayer took the longest of any I have written in that margin, so this is not meant to be a discouragement to you. I just wanted you to see how special this verse is to me. Many names and many answered prayers through the years are connected to this verse. I have written your name in the margin of my Bible with todays date and I am claiming that verse for you! Father God, Lord Jesus my Savior, hear our prayers, heal my new friend Sue from this cancer and I will continue to pray and claim this verse for you! I live in Virginia. My husband works for CHRW with Matt. That is how I know Tracy. We have been to MN many times, next time I come I would love to meet you, in fact I would be honored to meet you!!
That is wonderful news! I was praying throughout the day for you!
Blessings to you! More prayers for a great Biopsy
Sue,
Once again I am amazed at what God can do when the situation seemed horrible! Praise Him that they were able to remove the mesh though a small incision! We will continue to pray that your answers all come cancer free and complication free!
